Noal G. Loyd

Noal G. Loyd, 99, of Walnut Hill, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 at his home. Noal was born November 2, 1919 in Centralia, son of William Loyd and Effie (Higgins) Loyd. He married Marjorie Virginia Orrill on July 27, 1940 and she preceded him in death on May 10, 2014 after 73 years of marriage. He is survived by a daughter, Janet Greear and husband David of Centralia; two sons: Lowell G. “Butch” Loyd and wife Susan of Round Rock, TX and Todd Loyd and wife Kaye of Round Rock, TX; eight grandchildren: Eric Greear and Kristie Blackman of Centralia, Paul Loyd of Round Rock, TX, Eve Peak and husband Johnny of Round Rock, TX, Stephen Loyd of Round Rock, TX, Joshua Loyd of Round Rock, TX, Jed Loyd of Round Rock, TX, David Loyd and John Loyd both of Round Rock, TX; three great-grandsons: Josh Greear of Florida, Brady Greear and Michael Cade Greear both of Centralia; a great-great-granddaughter: Elysiah Greear of Florida; sisters-in-law: Grace Orrill of Centralia and Bonnie Cleveland of Kankakee; numerous nieces and nephews: Dale Loyd, Carol and Gary Barton, Virginia Telford, Paulette Mason, Mark and Kathy Orrill, Kent Orrill, Jill and Harold “Bumper” Quick, Ann Koch, Annette and Terry Alvis, Greg and Robin Orrill, Kim Bealaux, Carol Wright, Marsha Merritt, Tammy Neu, Jim and Judy Laffoon, Gary Peoples and Julie Schilling, Randy Peoples and Gayla, Elaine, Bruce, Darren, Darla, Laura, Brian, Vivian and Chris. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Effie Loyd, a grandson: Jeffrey Greear, three brothers: Lambert Loyd, Paul Loyd, and Forrest Loyd, mother-in-law and father-in-law: Ethel Orrill and John Orrill; three brothers-in-law: Pete Orrill, Wesley Orrill and Dean Orrill, and sisters-in-law: Jesse Peoples and Norma Prosise. Noal served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed over in the Philippines and received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and then transferred to Japan and received the Distinguished Unit Badge Army of Occupation Medal. He was a Lifetime Member of the Centralia V.F.W. Post 2055. Noal was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was an avid story teller and prankster. His greatest enjoyment was hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Funeral services for Noal Loyd will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia with Judy Loyd officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Military Honors will be accorded at the grave site by the American Legion Post 446 and VFW Post 2055. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel.
