Minnie M Farthing

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Minnie M. Farthing, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Minnie passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the age of 73, in Centralia, Illinois. Born on Saturday, November 8th, 1952, the daughter of Charles and Josie Mae (Marshall) Schaidt. She married Robert "Bob" Farthing on February 14, 1977 and they later divorced. Minnie lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication. A devoted nurse, Minnie spent the last years of her career, caring for patients at the Sara Busch Lincoln Memorial Hospital, where her kindness and gentle spirit touched many lives. Her commitment to the nursing profession was not just a career but a calling that exemplified her nurturing nature. Minnie was a devout follower of the Protestant faith, and her strong belief in God was evident in every aspect of her life. She loved nothing more than sharing her warmth and wisdom with her family and could often be found baking delicious treats, creating sweet memories for those she cherished. Minnie is survived by her loving children: her son, Robert Farthing and his wife Shannon of Centralia, and her daughter, Heaven Farthing and her fiancé Mike Shutt of Carmi. Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Anthony Mays of Centralia, Nick Farthing of Florida, Walker Whitmore of Salem, Lacey Williams and her husband Cam of Centralia, and Hayden Farthing, Cheyenne Whitmore, Blakely Farthing, and Jerico Whitmore all of Centralia. She also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren: Liam Helm-Mays, Ryleigh Helm-Mays, Abel Long, Owen Helm-Mays, and Hudson Helm-Mays. Minnie is also survived by her sister, Mary Grubb and her husband Joe of Carlyle, as well as her brother-in-law, James Melton, and numerous nieces and nephews who adored her and will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles and Josie Schaidt, her sister, Josie Melton, and her two brothers, James and Carl Schaidt. In accordance with Minnie's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and there will be no public services held.
