Robert Massa

May 20, 1940 - January 29, 2022

Robert “Bob” Leon Massa, 81, of Sandoval, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born May 20, 1940 in Breese, Illinois, the son of Bert Massa and Elizabeth (Thomas) Massa. Bob is survived by his companion: Judy Roberson Braun, six children: Dan Massa of Sandoval, John Massa of Sandoval, Mary Lambert and husband Tony of Charleston, South Carolina, Linda Fields and husband George of Sandoval, Laura Shepler and husband Joe of Junction City, and Bob Massa, Jr. and wife Kari of Highland; grandchildren: Jeremy Massa, Emily Massa, Ryan Lambert, Destiny Noffke, Megan Lawson, Sarah Hilderbrand, Tyler Marcum, Vanessa Campbell, Kristen Fields, Rachel Fox, Elias Fields, Jesse Fox. Jack Massa, and Aaron Massa; great-grandchildren: Asyia, Connor, Kyiah, Jayden, Ella, Jake, Miley, A.J., Michael, Luciana, Cambri, Nick, Ayianna, Mario, Jeanessa, Serinity, Ehren, Michael, Roy, and Jerry; nieces and nephews: Denise Scuteri-Brooks, Debbie Scuteri-Svab, Mike Scuteri, Lisa Hiler, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bert and Elizabeth Massa, great-grandson: Jordan, and sister: Vivian Scuteri. Bob worked at the Centralia Correctional Center as a Captain where he later retired and previously worked at the Vandalia Correctional Center. He enjoyed spending time fishing, gardening, watching St. Louis Cardinal Games, and spending time with his family. Bob was loved by many in the community. Funeral Services for Bob Massa will be held Friday, February 4, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at the Sandoval Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sandoval Fire Department and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Massa Family.
