Robert L. Jones, 91, of Springfield, Illinois passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Cedarhurst of Centralia. He was born November 5, 1930 in Herrin, Illinois, the son of Robert Jones and Lorraine (Burgess) Howell. Robert is survived by a nephew: Larry Tucker and wife Diana of Phoenix, Arizona; two nieces: Lynda Tepelidis of Encino, California and Barbara Lepore of North Hills, California; several great-nieces and great-nephews; a cousin: David Burgess and wife Susan of Centralia and several other cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Iva June Horning, a brother-in-law Thomas Horning, a brother: Leroy Jones and a nephew-in-law: Ted Tepelidis. Robert served in the United States Army. He earned his Bachelor of Music Theory. Robert worked for the Human Resources for the State of Illinois for 20 plus years. He enjoyed traveling all over the world, including visiting China. He also enjoyed collecting coins and model trains. A Graveside Service for Robert L. Jones will be held Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois with his cousin: Pastor David Burgess officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the World War II Illinois Veterans Memorial Board in Oak Ridge Cemetery and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, are honored to be of service to the Jones Family.
