Ms. Laura "June" Showalter

June Showalter, 65, of Dix, Illinois passed away March 15, 2022 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL. Born November 26, 1956 in Vandalia, she was the daughter of Donald G. and Shirley (Followell) McCarty. June retired with 21 years service at Walgreen's. She was a member of the Kinmundy Christian Church. She loved her family, and enjoyed basketmaking. She married Dale Neal and they later divorced. She married Gary W. Showalter, October 30, 2020 in Dix, IL and he survives. Also surviving is her son, Kent Neal of Kinmundy, IL, her step-children Gary Showalter, Jr. and wife Jodi of Dahlgren, IL, Marilyn Showalter and Julia Showalter of Iuka, IL. Also left to mourn her passing are her brothers, Stanley McCarty and wife Kristy of Mt. Vernon, IL and Brad McCarty and wife Misty of Kinmundy, IL, along with her niece Shelby McCarty of Kinmundy, IL, Carrel Randol of Nashville, IL, nephew Cody Johnson of Centralia, IL and great nieces and nephews she dearly loved, including Rowan Johnson, Peyton and Haedyn Randol. Also, two step-grandchildren Jonathan and Faith. She also leaves her best friend and buddy, Annie Bug. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her best buddy of 16 years, Dizzy Lou. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday in the Chapel of Sutherland - Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, 310 N. Visiting hours will be 11:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will be at Gray Cemetery, Kinmundy, IL. The family suggest memorials be made to the Diabetes Association or the Centralia No-Kill Humane Society.
