Joey Daugherty, 53, of Central City, passed away Friday, September 4, 2020 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born June 3, 1967 in Centralia, the son of Clint Don Daugherty and Malinda Kay (Stone) Clark. He married the love of his life Tischa Ellis on August 5, 2000 and she survives in Central City. In addition to his wife of 20 years, Tischa Daugherty of Central City, he is also survived by his step father: Reggie Clark of Centralia; step-mother: Jane Daugherty of Centralia; his three children: Caitlin Ellis and Blake Budds of Centralia, Austin Daugherty of Central City and Riley Daugherty of Central City; his granddaughter: Raelynn Jones of Centralia; six brothers: Troy Daugherty and wife Tina of Iuka, Darren Clark and wife Tonya of Coldwater, MI, Tony Ellis of Dallas, Texas, Tim Ellis and wife Mary Katherine of Georgia, Todd Ellis of Centralia, and Tommy Ellis and Brandi Karbowiak of Centralia; several nieces and nephews, his aunt: Patricia Wood and husband Larry of Phoenix, Arizona; father and mother-in-law: Mike Ellis and wife Sharon of Centralia; his special children: Alicia Hanks, Sheena Claar, Noah Jackson, Braddy Baum, Devin Mashburn and Mason Kopen; and his special family friends: Josh Patten and wife Karlie Patten of Centralia and Jerry Patten and wife Bobbi of Sandoval. Joey was preceded in death by his mother and father: Malinda Kay Clark and Clint Don Daugherty, a brother: Steve Hails, grandparents: C.W. and Claire Daugherty and Albert and Billie Stone, and two uncles: Michael Stone and Albert "Pee Wee" Stone, Jr. Joey worked at Kaco for 30 years with his step father, Reggie Clark. He enjoyed cars and drag racing. He also enjoyed watching his favorite college basketball team, UK Wildcats, and his kids play sports. Joey was at his best when he was giving his friends a hard time. He cherished the time he spent with his granddaughter, family and friends. Visitation for Joey Daugherty will be held Friday, September 11, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, the family ask those attending to please be mindful of social distancing, wear a mask and any health precaution necessary to insure a healthy environment. Also, a visitation will be held Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home and at 2:00 PM the Last Ride Motorcycle Hearse will give Joey his last ride to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia for a Celebration of Life Service at 2:30 PM. Per the family's request, they would like for everyone coming for the procession out to the cemetery to please wear purple in honor of Joey and bring your jeeps, hot rods and motorcycles.
