Roy retired from the Central Wholesale Liquor Company after 40 years. He never missed a day of work and in his honor, the company created The Roy Harriman Service Award. He was an avid bowler for 20 plus years. Roy actively volunteered for several local Food Pantry's until the day he passed. From 2011 until he passed, he helped the Community of Centralia raise over $107,000.00 for Youth Programs. Roy and Dick Peoples, were always the first two that would show up at the many venues used by the Centralia Area Fold Em Club to set up the needed luncheon items to make youth fundraisers successful. Roy and the Community have raised over $23,000.00 for the Fred Pearson Foundation. He has also help raise over $10,000.00 for the Mike Fontaine Ball Fields in Central City and the Centralia Youth Center. His part meant so much to him and he never wanted his picture or name in the newspaper. All Roy ever wanted to do was something for someone else and then ask when will we help somebody again. His Over the Hill Carry Card Club will miss him, but will never forget him and his memory will be with them forever. There is no doubt that God will enjoy Roy's company, but more importantly God will tell Roy that his lifetime love for the other guy makes everything good, both here on earth and in Heaven. It will always be Roy's Honor to support the local youth. Per Roy's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no public service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Leukemia-American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Harriman Family.
