Walter Junior York, 81 of Centralia, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016 at Centralia Manor in Centralia.He was born on March 14, 1935 in Hoyleton, son of Walter York and Anna (Daum) York.He married Rosalee Quick on April 14, 1956 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia and she preceded him in death on December 9, 2015.He is survived by a son, Leon Dwight York and Tammie Miller of Centralia; two daughters: Tana Schneider and husband Michael of Centralia and Carla McDaniel and husband Bill of Centralia; ten grandchildren: Ryan York of Richview, Justin York and wife Andi of Troy, Rachel Schneider of Centralia, Morgan York of Centralia, Adam McDaniel of Maryville, MO, Kevin Schneider and Kourtney Chalke of Centralia, Ashley Corners and husband Brent of Centralia, Jennifer Stahla and husband Joe of Belleville, David Schneider of Centralia and Tyrus Rodwald of Pensacola, FL; fourteen great-grandchildren: Jaylin Peters, Payton York, Stacie Schneider, Brylan Jones, Aaron Schneider, Ella York, Callen Corners, Twins: Aftynn and Ava Corners, Emmerson York, Willard Schneider, Isabella Hedgecock, Sabrinah Chalke and Anniston Rose Stahla; three sisters-in-law: Nina Quick of Centralia, Gloria York of California, and Ione Quick of Centralia; many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers: Floyd York and Kenneth York, and a sister, Melba Miner.Walter worked at Valley Steel in Ohio and Centralia for many years and then worked at Centralia Cartage for 25 plus years and later retired around 1984. He farmed and raised hay to sell. He loved his Belgium Horses. He also enjoyed going to auctions to buy and sell items, he would use his portable saw mill to cut and sell rough cut lumber to the Amish for their horse stalls, and he was a collector of horse drawn equipment. Walter and his wife Rosalee loved to do Polkas at weddings. He even enjoyed helping Rosalee with her home daycare. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.Funeral Services for Walter York will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 12:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Tyler Hauptmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Relay for Life and Trinity Lutheran Church of Hoyleton and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, which is assisting the family with arrangements.
