Ruth Profancik

Ruth Marie Profancik, age 87, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.Ruth was born November 26, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter to Joseph and Ann Marie (Klepetko) Cermak. She married Albert J. “Al” Profancik on November 22, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. Al preceded her in death on September 25, 2006.She is survived by three sons, Alan Profancik and wife Marsha of Centralia, Larry Profancik and wife Henrietta of Louisville, KY, and Marc Profancik and wife Connie of Centralia; two daughters, Marla Trone and Ron Markus of Breese, IL and Angel Reid and husband Mike of Ashley, IL; 19 grandchildren, Alan Profancik, Jr. and wife Sherry of Salem, Lori Profancik of Centralia, Jason Profancik and wife Tanya of Gulf Breeze, FL, Jennifer Hasenfuss and husband Jeff of Knoxville, TN, Brian Profancik and wife Leslie of Carbondale, IL, Julianne Starr and husband Derrick Centralia, Jessica Leone and husband Michael of Lacrosse, WI, Damian Profancik and wife Leah of Geenwood, IN, Erin Hilt and husband Andy of Greenfield, IN, Evan Profancik and wife Brandy of Greenfield, IN, Grace Ann Pumpelly and husband Ben of Lexington, KY, Christen Ruth Aroh and husband Ben of Louisville, KY, Joseph Cermak Profancik of Crestwood, KY, Justin Profancik and wife Renee of St Joseph, IL, Nick Profancik and wife Katelyn of St. Louis, MO, Chris Schilling and wife Amy of Centralia, Lucas Schilling and fiance’ Brittany Peak of Centralia, Ryan Reid and wife Ashley of Ashley, IL, and Eric Reid and wife Candace of Ashley, IL; and 33 great-grandchildren with two to be expected this spring. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ann Marie Cermak, her husband Al Profancik, and two granddaughters, Aimee Trone, and Emma Rose Profancik.In 1970, she started working at Southern Glass Company in Centralia, then in 1987 became the owner operator. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She loved to garden, sing in the choir, sporting events, greeter, dancing, roller skating, taught ballroom dancing, coached track at St. Mary, Girl Scout Leader, volunteered for everything, avid fan of Orphan basketball, Secretary/Treasurer of the Downtown Centralia Theatre Board, St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation Board, and enjoyed attending sporting events for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth loved her family most of all.Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 22, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centralia with Father Dale Maxfield officiating. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Centralia. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Prayer service will be held at 4:30 P.M. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made St. Mary's Church, St. Mary's School or restoration of the Downtown Centralia Theater, Inc. and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, which is assisting the family with arrangements.
