Robert "Bob" N. Quick

Robert “Bob” N. Quick, 75 of Centralia passed away on Wednesday March 13, 2013 at his home. Mr. Quick was born on April 3, 1937 in Mason City the son of Nelson & Ester (Griffen) Quick. He married Liselotte R. Stahl on March 14, 1958 in Seligenstadt, Germany and she survives in Centralia. Mr. Quick is survived by his wife of 55 years Lilo; one son James Quick of Centralia; two daughters Kathy Collins and husband Mike of Festus, MO, and Christina Ramey and husband Chad of Centralia; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother in law; one sister in law; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Quick was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and his mother in law and father in law. Mr. Quick grew up in Mason City where in high school he was a good athlete in track, baseball he received a scholarship to play basketball. After not accepting the scholarship he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country in Germany, Vietnam, Korea and Thailand. He received the Bronze Star and was an Honorary Green Beret. After serving in the Army for 22 years he retired and then went to work at Hollywood Candy Company/Leaf Candy Company where he retired and then opened his own kennel. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time outdoors, and cared deeply for the environment. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed Cardinal and Yankee baseball. With his love for animals he donated his money and time for their betterment for eight years taking in any animal needing a home or rehabilitation. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Centralia and the Centralia American Legion, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, and Defenders of Wildlife. Most of all he was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and enjoyed his time spent with his family. Memorial Services for Mr. Quick will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Perry Schefelker and Pastor Mark Girardin officiating at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home.
