Reinhard Knolhoff

Reinhard H. Knolhoff, 97, of Centralia, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois. He was born September 2, 1921 in Hoffman, son of Edward Knolhoff and Martha (Reinkensmeyer) Knolhoff. He married Bernice L. Holle of Ferrin on December 8, 1945 in Centralia and she survives. In addition to Bernice, his wife of 72 years, he is also survived by two children: Diane Baldridge and husband Robert of Wheaton, Illinois and Michael Knolhoff and wife Sharon of Sterling, Illinois; five grandchildren: Jennifer Rench and husband Kevin, Laura Fulton and husband Jeff, John Knolhoff and wife Kelly, Dan Knolhoff and wife Sarah, and Kathryn Ayers and husband Justin; ten great-grandchildren: Anna, Elizabeth, Nora, Eve, Lily, Elle, Mia, Macy, Claire, and Camden; a brother: Norman Knolhoff and wife Lucille of Centralia; a sister-in-law: Lucille Knolhoff of Centralia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings: Quinta Brammeier and husband Emil, Leona Haake and husband Alvin, Rosina Woker and husband Raymond, Delores Cramer and husband Alfred, and Milton Knolhoff. Reinhard served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Corporal in the 247 Combat Engineer Battalion. He was the owner and operator of Paris Dry Cleaner for 40 plus years until he later retired. He was a member of the Centralia American Legion Post 446 and the Centralia V.F.W. Post 2055. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his wife, family and friends. He was very active in Trinity Lutheran Church and was an avid Cardinal fan. Visitation will be held at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home on Saturday Oct. 6 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. The funeral service will be at 9:30 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Perry Schefelker officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Military Honors will be accorded at the gravesite by the American Legion Post 446 and V.F.W. Post 2055.
