Joyce Porter

Joyce Porter, 83, of Centralia, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2020 at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. Joyce was born October 9, 1936 in Le Roy ,IL, the daughter of Carl Arbuckle and Jenny (Miller) Arbuckle. She married Donald Porter on December 30, 1982 in Shirley, IL and he survives in Centralia. In addition to her husband Donald of 37 years, Donald Porter of Centralia, she is also survived by nine children: Kenneth Hart and wife Shelly of Bloomington, Keith Porter and wife Kim of Jacksonville, Florida, Kevin Hart and Stacy Robinson of Ohio, Tom Hart of Pennsylvania, Steven Armstrong and Christine of Ballatona, Florida, Penny Cornell and Bryan of Canton, Michigan, Karen Stitt of Denver, Colorado, and Kathy Bradford and husband Paul of Ohio; twenty-six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Carol and Jenny Arbuckle, a daughter: Dawn Link, and a brother: Thomas Arbuckle. Joyce worked for General Electric for many years and retired in 1998 after receiving a prize from General Electric for Community Service. She was the current President of the Centralia V.F.W Post 2055 Ladies Auxiliary and the past President of the Bloomington V.F.W. Post 454 Ladies Auxiliary, where she helped start the Ladies Auxiliary Cancer Fund. Funeral Services for Joyce Porter will be held Monday, July 27, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. A Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at the Funeral Home. Family and friends that plan on coming to the visitation and funeral service will be required to wear a mask and social distance with a limit of the amount of people entering the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at the East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington, Illinois. In honor of Joyce, memorial donations may be made to the V.F.W.
