Dorothy M. Stedelin, age 90, of Centralia, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Centralia Manor, Centralia, IL.Dorothy was born on October 26, 1925 in Troy, PA, the daughter of William and Mary (Jenkins) Beardslee. She married Dr. John A. Stedelin on June 28, 1948 in Traverse City, MI and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1999.She is survived by eight children, Jan (Joe) Doolin of Forsyth, IL, John (Dawn) Stedelin of Robinson, IL, Mark (Diane) Stedelin of Centralia, IL, Jim Stedelin of Springfield, IL, Patrick (Mary) Stedelin of Centralia, IL, Mary (Kent) Jones of Centralia, IL, Andrew (Barb) Stedelin of Miles City, MT, and Matthew Stedelin of Centralia, IL; 24 grandchildren, Meg (Hal) Clark, Amanda (Chris) Habel, Joe ( Stacey) Doolin, John (Jamie) Doolin, Alison (Cody) Hupp, Keely Doolin, Shae Doolin, John W. (Michelle) Stedelin, Joe (Kristen) Stedelin, Katie (Travis) Markotay, Jennifer (Andrew) McCoskey, Christin (Dan) Parrish, Sara Stedelin, Tim (Atsuko) Stedelin, Mike (Jen) Stedelin, Talman Stedelin, Zachary Jones, Megan Jones, Taryn Stedelin, Charlie Stedelin, Gene Thompson, Craig Thompson, John M. Stedelin, and Jaxsen Stedelin; 32 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roy (Barb) Beardslee of Columbia Crossroads, PA.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; one brother, Bill Beardslee; and a sister, Alene Chaffee.Dorothy was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Centralia. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Bank. She worked as a nurse in her younger years and then as a homemaker, taking care of her family. She loved animals, including dogs and horses and enjoyed horseback riding. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and made stocking caps for all her kids and grandkids and donated many to the Red Cross. She also enjoyed gardening flowers and tomato plants. Dorothy was very proud of all her children and grandchildren and loved them all dearly. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Funeral Services for Dorothy Stedelin will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at First United Presbyterian Church in Centralia with Pastor John Willis and Pastor Allan Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia.Friends may call at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.Memorial donations may be made to Partners for Pets.
