Donald Martoccio

Donald Hill Martoccio, age 79 of Naples, Florida passed away peacefully, on, Saturday, January 10, 2015, at his home. He was born October 5, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN to Clayton and Dorothy (Hill) Martoccio. He married Carolyn Jean Walton in Centralia, Illinois, September 10, 1955. They walked through life together until her death in August 2000. Donald is survived by one son Steven L. Martoccio and wife Cathy of Terre Haute, Indiana, four grandchildren, Keith Martoccio and wife Summer of Indianapolis, IN, Tina Rejcyk and husband Steve of Mundelin, IL, Stephanie Hughes and husband Brett of Franklin, Indiana, Holly Martoccio of Carbondale, IL and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Donald’s partner of 14 years, Cecile McCown and their beloved Jack Russell Terrior “Tiger Elvis Martoccio”. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Donald Michael Martoccio and Jeffrey Dean Martoccio, and twin brother Ronald Martoccio. Donald served in the U.S. Coast Guard from March 1954-January 1958, as Petty Officer, Second Class at South Portland Maine Coast Guard Base and also Brant Point Lifeboat Station, Nantucket Island. Donald grew up in Centralia, Illinois where as a young man ne worked with his brother, father and grandfather in the family’s business, Hollywood Brand’s Candy Company. He was also owner-operator for several years of King Laundry and King Bar-B-Q. After retiring in 1989 he moved to Naples, Florida. He belonged to several organizations, Elks, Moose and the American Legion. From 2001-2011 he was a member of the Naples and Fort Myers U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary at which he was an instructor, Life Boat crew member, Vessel Examiner, and Radio Communications Specialist. Donald enjoyed boating and teaching others boating safety on waterways. His other hobbies and interest included traveling, coin collecting, designing jewelry, model airplane building, watching all forms of sports, especially his favorite team “The St. Louis Cardinals”. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Funeral Services for Donald will be held Friday, January 16, 2015, at 1:00 P.M. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Friday from 11:00am to 1:00pm, at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home.
