Dale E. Wernsman

Dale Eugene Wernsman, 83 of Centralia, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at his home. Dale was born June 15, 1930 in Vernon, son of Walter J. Wernsman and Edna B. (Lawrence) Wernsman. He married Naomi Koehler on July 12, 1951 in Mobile, Alabama and she survives in Centralia. In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by five children: Sandra Coalter and husband Bobby of St. Genevieve, Missouri, Dennis Wernsman and wife Diana of Salem, Stephen Wernsman and wife Jane of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Tom Wernsman and wife Kathie of Centralia and Janet Beckmeyer and husband David of Irvington; Eleven grandchildren: Sarah Anderson and husband Colin, Joe Wernsman, Amy Bassett, Jessica Dial and husband Travis, Kayla Clark and husband Brad, Paul Beckmeyer, Maria Beckmeyer, Christi Beckmeyer, Jenna Beckmeyer, Bobby Coalter and Michael Coalter; two great-grandchildren and one great-grandson on the way; three brothers and five sisters: Evelyn Stover of St. Petersburg, Florida, Dorothy Choate and husband Henry of Palm Harbor, Florida, Juanita Bogue of Kansas City, Missouri, Edna Barrow and husband Finis of Central City, Russell Wernsman and wife Judy of Brownsburg, Indiana, Robert “Bob” Wernsman and wife Susan of Abingdon, Jane Peters and husband Jerry of Centralia and Michael Wernsman and wife Theresa of New Baden; a brother-in-law, Ridge Willis; three sister-in-laws: Ruth Wernsman, Marilyn Wernsman, and Wanda Wernsman; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Dean Wernsman, Charles Wernsman, Jerry Wernsman, Jack Wernsman and Joe Wernsman, and a sister, Carol Willis. Dale served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a dedicated employee for Seip Service and Supply where he pumped oil wells for 48 years. Dale enjoyed restoring antique cars and going to car shows. He was a member of the Studebaker Club and a Charter Member of the Central City Lions Club. He was a bee keeper who had several bee hives. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids, family and friends. Funeral Services for Dale Wernsman will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Friedens United Church of Christ in Irvington with Pastor Stacy Tate officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia.
