Alice Mae Hanks

Alice Mae (Wilkerson) Hanks, 85 of Sandoval, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Carlyle Healthcare Center.She was born March 8, 1931 in Carlyle, daughter of Lloyd Wilkerson and Ruby (Deadmond) Wilkerson. She married David Hanks on September 19, 1970 and he survives in Sandoval.In addition to her husband of 45 years, she is also survived by a son, John McConnell and wife Anita of Metropolis; two daughters Barb Davis of Centralia and Mary Hanks of Sandoval; a step-son, David M. Hanks and wife Mit of Sandoval; two step-daughters: Alta Monical and husband Gary of Alma and Kathy Owens and husband DeWayne of Odin; 14 grandchildren: Alica Hahn and husband Brad of Centralia, Michael White of Chicago, Jason Davis and wife Amy of Centralia, Jacob McConnell of Metropolis, Rebecca Minnick and husband Sean of Metropolis, Leah Poole and husband Nick of Metropolis, Joanna McConnell of Metropolis, Hallie DuBois of Sandoval, Lisa Williams of Alma, Lana Gallion of Kentucky, Jennifer Johnson and husband Stephen of Odin, Joseph Owens of Salem, Adam Hanks and wife Sara of Centralia, and Andrew Hanks and wife Bethany of Salem; 23 great-grandchildren and one due in November; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, a great-grandson, Luke Hanks, two sisters: Florence Aldrich and Betty Williams, three brothers: Harold Wilkerson, Bill Wilkerson, and one infant brother, Lloyd Wilkerson; and two sisters-in-law.Alice was the Past Vice President of bookkeeping at the Old National Bank in Centralia. She was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Centralia, where she worked in the church office, taught Sunday school and assisted with the prayer group. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 50 plus years. Alice enjoyed watching cardinal red birds, owls, making quilts, embroidering and crocheting. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.Funeral Services for Alice Hanks will be held Friday, July 29, 2016 at 12:00 PM at the First Apostolic Church in Centralia with Pastor Jonathan Urshan officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Lakeside Mausoleum in Centralia. Visitation will be held Friday, July 29, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Celtic Hospice, Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School, Luke Hanks Memorial Scholarship or First Apostolic Church Building Fund and will be accepted at the Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Centralia which is assisting the Hanks Family with arrangements.
